If the governor solenoid is sticking, it may cause the issue. As much as I like DIY, when there are issues like this I take it to my transmission guy. There is a lot going on in the trans.

Well i checked for codes using the key trick and came up with the P1693, so who knows whats behind that. I had it come up before, than go away and hasnt came back so hopefully it has something to do with it. After it kicks back into gear, the transmission feels fine and shifts up from the top of 2nd up to over drive just fine

My truck is doimg basically the same thing. Mine is a little more random with the falling out of gear (or whatever). Same code though p1653. Its progressively getting worse. Started last week onky doing it once every so often. Now its doing it constantly. I have parked the truck til I can figure out the problem.

Tranny fluid is clean but bubbly. It has been changed along with the filter within the last year or so.

What gears is it doing dropping out of. An apps Noise isolator could be your problem. After all this trans trouble i pulled my air box and found my isolater had came unplugged, regrounded it and still had troubles.

My trans is now out of the truck and being rebuilt by Goerend. All my clutches were basically fried and come to find out both my tranny cooler lines were cracked. No temp guage really bit me in the A** this month.

Thanks for the reply!
I disconnected both batteries and turned the key on for an hour or so. When i hooked them back up v and reset the tps it ran fine...wierd!

Now my '96 is having the same problem but the battery trick didnt work on this one. Im hoping its not a tired tc. The truck does have 220k on her. Im going to try some lucus and get my jands on a noise isolaterand see if that helps. Any other suggestions?
