I see that. (Aftermarket frame bracket)...

Hmmmm. Is that the bracket I have to add in order to use the 3rd gen. track bar?

Thurenfab makes a stock replacement bar that is good for 0-3" of lift and you don't have to cut any brackets off, it's a pure stock replacement that is adjustable.

Theres too much confusion here. Its real easy - for second gen applications with 0-3" of lift, the ThurenFab Trackbar is a bolt-on:

Thuren Fabrication - 0-3" lift track bar

Supposed to be a kick butt chunk of iron too.

The welding is required if you have a second gen that is lifted 5+" (you can see it in the picture in the link):

Now, the third gen trackbar conversion you are talking about is a whole different matter.

To this bracket (which is bolton - no welding is involved), you will need to install a third gen trackbar (OEM or aftermarket, your choice).

Was about to post the same info doc posted above. Thanks Doc for clarifying that for everyone.

Looking like I MAY have to go with a weld on bracket for my track bar, as my truck is 4.5" lift in front and not 0-3". This info is based on what I discussed with Thuren Fab. on what I plan on doing with my truck. If it was simply a street truck I could get away with a 0-3" version though.

and it is!!! in an offroad forum I spend some time on, where guys 'wheel their trucks HARD, the only one that's had an issue with a Thuren bar was an improper installation with the 5"+ track bar.

I put Thuren's adjustable 0-3" bar on the '96 I used to have with 2" steel leveling spacers, both brothers have 3" coil lifted 3rd gens, one with/one without Thuren's track bar and they drive very, very differently. Needless to say the brother without ordered a Thuren-bar within a few days of driving the other truck!

For the 2nd gen, it's an adjustable heim at one end and a poly bushing at the other and there's no welding/fabricating, just bolt it in. I only had my truck for about 50k miles with the Thuren track bar on it...I towed heavy, drove very 'spirited' empty and taught myself how to rally race on mtn dirt roads(30-60mph 4 wheel-drift corners) Basically, I abused the hell out of it and never had a problem. Plus, Don has AWESOME customer service, I've done a fair amount of business with him for track bars and suspension systems for my family and friends' trucks because of how helpful he was to me with my truck.

Spend some money up front to do it right and you won't have to worry about it again...eventually you'll have to rebuild the ends but that's going to be well over 100k miles of working better than any other option.
