If a piece of carbon is enough to throw em off and they are spinning at 10k rpms plus any imbalance is gona cause wear now can you put a wheel on and run it sure but its gona wear at a faster rate

Ive seen a 60mm upgrade take out a h1c albeit the turbo had age to it but the bearings went out and it had a balanced wheel so sure some of it was normal wear but it was sped up by that

I have done high speed balancing for 22 years, when we build a pump, blower, or whatever we balance the shaft first then use it to balance each rotating piece, that way any of the parts can be changed out and if the part installed is balanced then the end result will still be the same.

i have never heard of a turbo failure caused buy a factory balanced wheel.

your friends wheel may have been bent, or the shaft got bent in the instalation process, or something of that nature.

anyhow anything is possible and any turbo manufacturer can miss a balance tolerance or have some residual imbalance or some harmonics of some sort.

i have had a 60mm GDS upgrade for 23,000 miles and have not been easy on it, and so far it's a great product.
