I know this is not the right place to post this but I figured it would
Get more replies here. I am looking at an 02 and an 06 jetta tdi. Can some one tell me the common problems with these cars. Both are automatic. Thank you

I work for vw. The water pumps are made of plastic and tend to break. The egr likes to plug up with high mileages and glow plug harnesses go out.

When they plug up it creates alot of issues mass air sensors egr valves throttle blades even injectors and fuel pumps like to crap out. The transmissions seem to last. Just make sure its got clean fuel and the t belt water pump are done they are really good cars and id rather work on the tdi then the gassers

What does it take to completely delete the egr the right way.

Never seen one deleted everyone ive done has been stock. But id guess its like the newer trucks block off the egr and remove the valve and cooler maybe...

DO NOT GET AN AUTOMATIC.....

moparbubbabt59l 03-18-2012 11:16 PM

The manuals get better mileage but the dsg im the 06 is just an automatically shifted manual. And i haven't seen that many trans issues compared to mopar where i also worked.

I have had two DSG trannies (automated stick shift) in my VW-CC and my Audi TDI and wouldn't have anything else! I sure wish I had an automated tick shift instead of the 518 in my Dodge!!!

My 2011 TDI gets 42 mpg and out-acceleartes almost everything I've run up against. My brother's new Passat TDI gets 51 mpg and he drives it HARD .

Low 40s is what the cr motors usually get but you could pull 50s out of the older motors. And the dsg trans is nice just make sure you have the updated valve body and clean fluid.
