Step By Step Injection Pump Install
Does any one have a link with a step by step guide on setting up the pump gear on a first gen I am familiar with the newer pumps, but I thought the ve pupmps had a keyway.
|
The keyway is on the pump gear.
The key loves to fall into the gear case and is hard to line up. |
ill take some pictures of us installing mine, we finally got it back together today, had every single nut and bolt spread out on my nice glass kitchen table........i can just see the key way will be a PITA.....
god i hope we did it right.......... |
The key should slide into the keyway with very little resistance. You shouldn't need to force the key into the keyway by tightening the bolt on the pump shaft.
That key is steel, but it can smash just fine and either advance or retard your timing by 10 degrees... |
mine slipped right in but who knows if the thing will run..........if not Nozzle Masters in Orlando wants 250 to rebuild it........
|
Simple trick for the key... Just put a drop of super glue on it and place it in the keyway in the pump shaft. This will keep it from falling out durinf assembly...:U:

My key was wedged on the shaft so tight I thought it was attached. I was told to face the key straight up so it wouldn't fall out, worked well for me.
I wish I had taken better pictures when I did mine, but here is what I have. That little half moon in the gear is where the key goes, make sure that is on top when you pull the pump. http://i73.photobucket.com/albums/i2...ionpump007.jpg This is the best picture I have that shows the key. Its on the shaft. Attachment 58483 I'm not sure if those help or not... Chris ---AutoMerged DoublePost--- Lol, I just realized this is 2 months old, oh well. I'll leave it up anyway. Sorry about bumping an old thread. Chris |
