rear axle problems
So I have a 89 dodge d350 cummins and i beleive it has the dana/spicer 70 rear axle. In order to remove the drums I have to pull the axles and remove a bearing nut. I measured it and it came out to 2 9/16 inches so I assumed it was metric. The guy at autozone looked it up and swore it was 2 1/2 inches so i bought the socket and it was a little too small. Does anyone have any experience with this? Im curios on the actual size and where to find a socket the right size. Thanks in advance.:argh:

I got my socket from O'Reileys and had to Dremel the inside walls thinner and kinda bend them out by pounding it onto the nut on the ground. Sorry I don't recall the size.

I use a 2-9/16 socket bought it from the matco tool truck. it's loose on the nut but will work fine .
The thing is it is a rounded hex nut not a standard hex nut there a pic of it http://www.alltradetools.com/catalog...nut-socket.jpg |

I ended up buying a 2-9/16" socket at carquest (made in USA). It fit snug and worked great. Thanks for the help.

Come on man! If you know how and take your time, you don't tear anything up man

I got the 2 9/16. And made cuts at the angles of the nut all six, then I opened it a bit with 2 pliers and worked great.
Good luck I would take a pic before you take a part the brake shoes, springs etc. Will help:hellox: |
