Sounds like something broke (duh). Shift fork?

Oh and one more for the gear driven TC.

try the shifter plate on top of the transmission if it just locked up on you with very little warning, (no ginding, noises, shaking or anything), then thats where'd i start

What did you find out with this ?

Sounds as if you may have run the trans out of oil and the forks got welded.
