Maxing out the ve pump?

iv been looking into this for a little while, but i was just wondering if every thing else is pretty much stock on my truck if it is worth it to max out the pump and would it hurt anything else on my truck?

thanks, Dylan

What set-up is the rest of the truck?

If 500 HP is "only" then you're not going to be impressed with the VE. :hellox:

lol lol lol 500 horse isn't alot.... oh wait... on a VE pump thats not alot, that's un-godly. Like BEGLE said, If you dont think 500 is alot your in the wrong business bud and you wont be impressed with a VE. But seriously.... it all depends on the mileage, condition of the motor/trans etc. If you think its gona cause problems it probably will. I have over 300,000 miles on mine and I dont have it "maxed out" nor do I plan on "maxing it out". Its your choice.

500 is harder to hit on any style Cummins truck then most think.... The VE is definatly the hardest though. :D

yeah i see i probably wont mess with it then. and im at 232k on the truck everything else on the truck seems to be in good shape trans, motor, ext.

just not sure what to do next to it lol

Don't get us wrong, by all means turn your pump up. Just don't expect 500hp without serious amounts of time, thought, engineering, and most importantly MONEY!!!

However, it would be highly advised to invest in, at the very least, a pyrometer, if you haven't done so already. And I personally would advance my timing somewhat also. As far as hurting things, not really. Depends more on how you drive. If you floor it every time you take off, slip the clutch, (if you have one) stay on the skinny pedal for prolonged periods of time etc etc, (basically, abusing your vehicle) then even a stock truck is going to fall apart.
