When Dodge first offered the Cummins, in model year '89, it was with the 21cm exhaust housing, and no intercooler. Simplicity!!! Those early trucks were dead slow, and when the upgrade happened a couple of years later, the inter cooled trucks were all supposed to have 18cm exhausts. The first 70,000 inter cooled trucks went out the door with 21's. My son's RamCharger received the engine from one of those 70,000 "wrong" trucks. The '89s should have an 18.5 exhaust housing. 1992 was the year with the "lagmaster" 21. |
Actually in 1989 the ford had the IDI 7.3 diesel but its pretty much the same motor.

It was non turbo until like 1993 I think then u could order it with a turbo from the dealer.

Oh, okay, cool, thanks for the info, my 89 was okay stock, no complaints for lack of power, or economy, and i absolutely love it now that I've tweaked the pump, I also have a 7.3 stroker, love that too, eventually I want to put a 24 valve in that so ill have the reliablity, the power and the economy :) oh and the 7.3 idi turbo blew as many head gaskets as the 6.0 powerstroke

I believe the engine you got was a '92.
The cable runs from the fuel pedal all the way to the triangle bracket and does utilize the snap-on ball end. As I said, it's '89-'91 with the round firewall hole, and I have several. $30, shipped Priority Mail. Mark. |
