yep yep and yep. all.. and i mean all u-joints are 1-4mos old carrier bearing too, just regeared the rear.

its like a bounce/wobble im gonna rotate tires and see if that helps. im just sick of tearing into it.. pretty sure i can rebuild the whole powertrain with my eyes closed.

replaced everything i can possibly think of, followed proper procedures and it's like being in a blender at 75mph ok, not that bad but its been a real annoyance for the past year, and now that i replaced everything its still there....

anyone wanna buy it? lol i need something else

How bad is it? Every 1st gen Ive ever ridden in shakes or vibrates to a point and they all ride rough as hell. Is it like death wobble or just a little vibration?

Dieselwrencher 06-28-2010 06:48 PM

Are there certain speeds where the vibration gets worse or fades away a little?

tiremann9669 06-28-2010 07:02 PM

What do you have on there for tires ?

Budgreen 06-28-2010 08:08 PM

235 85 16's still have decent tread, forget the brand offhand.

its a constant vibration, not death wobble but it becomes more pronounced with speed, vibrates everything at 65-75 then smoothes out past 80mph

at lower speeds 35-45 its there sometimes, and sometimes not, depends on it I hit bumps or take hard corners, comes and goes.

I'm sure none of these are the right one... but a couple more ideas anyways...

The front diff/driveline will spin even in 2wd. with the hubs unlocked, just thru the drag and friction and what not through the grease in the hubs, so make sure both of the u-joints out at the steering knuckles are still free and easy moving

Even when the carrier bearing on the rear driveline is still good, you can get a pretty mean shake out of it if the rubber isolator around it is getting weak/soft(or if anyone has ever drug your transmission crossmember over a stump or rock and knocked the engine/tranny out of alignment with the rear diff)

Are the brake rotors still straight?

Did you have it aligned after all of the front end work was completed? (not sure if the list of recent work was in any kind of order? sorry)

check, only been in 4x4 a few times since I put them in, had them out this weekend to do kingpins still look and move new :tu:

carrier bearing was replaced a few months back, a week or so before my rear gears grenaded. mine came with the isolator

Are the brake rotors still straight? about a year old, no visible warping and very minor wear so far, brakes are smooth

not yet, i was aligned somewhere in the middle of it all, now looking at it today from a distance I can tell its out a tiny bit

guess I will have to have that set and see if it helps.. but I have a feeling it won't solve my problem.. man I hope the shop has a socket big enough for the lugnuts lol so many are dumbfunded when I say 1"1/8
