leak?

tltruckparts 04-19-2010 12:19 PM

either your lift pump is getting weak and allowing the fuel to drain back down the lines, or your gotta leak soemwhere and air is getting in

Yeah, I would look for obvious leaks, Then check pressure out of the pump.. Good that you found the problem though, now you just need to find the cause.

A leak does not have to let fuel out... Just let air in. I would look at all your lines. Especially the rubber ones to and from the tank.

woah guys me baby just lost prime haha no leaks no nothing ... just lost prime at least thats what dad said :humm:

Thats the problem though... There has to be a reason for it to have lost prime. If it were me, I would want to know why so that I dont end up stranded, or having it wipe out my injection pump because of a faulty lift pump. They say IPs cant self prime, but I have seen quite few come through our shop that cut out on the top because the lift pump is bad, but it can still manage to run under reasonable conditions. Unfortunately, the IPs had been starved for long enough that it wiped them out within a few weeks. In your case, it may never do it again, it may leave you walking, who knows. I just like to be thorough, but thats my two cents. End of sermon.:w2:
