custom interior
hi all im getting ready 2 do an interior swap into my 93 w250 ext cab long bed i jus got my ands on a 96 dodge dakota so im gonna swap the interiors. has anyone done this before & have pics or know of any problems im gonna run into? im swapping because the hinge on my passenger seat snapped & my future ex wife likes the 2nd gen interior......
that sounds like its going to be a nightmare. those are 2 complete different trucks. i doubt switches will work or any of that or anything will even line up for that matter. not to mention a dakota isnt as wide, so seats carpet dash etc are all going to be narrower than a full size truck would
Are you just swapping seats or the WHOLE interior?
im planning on swapping as much as i can & my buddys got an 02 cummins he meaS
sured the seat widths in his & measured the seats in the dakota he claims theyre the same..... the most important thing for me outa doing this is @ have the back bench the future ex wife wont let me keep my truck if i dont get rid of the jump seats..... got a kid on the way so doing all i can 2 keep my truck :argh: ---AutoMerged DoublePost--- i also thought about swapping my motor into the dakota.......... would be a great wheelin rig then |
either way you go its going to be alot of work
I bet that it can be done, with full on custom work.
turns out i was mistaken its a 96 1500 extened cab
Still gonna be a full on custom deal... the WHOLE interior, including the metal that makes teh dash and teh cab dimensions, are different. The seats wont be to crazy hard to swap but a full interior is gonna be impossible with out alot of $$$ in custom fab.
It woudl be easier, and bheaper, to sell teh 1st gen and buy a 2nd gen. |
i was also thinking about swapping the motors lose the gasser in the 1500 & put my 12v in it
Then you need, a better tranny, bigger axles, better drive shafts, stiffer springs, and a pile of other stuff. If you still want your towing capacity, the 1500 frame will be too weak.
If you want a 2nd gen, sell the 1st gen and buy a 2nd gen. |
x2 on that one all day long. if you do that youll be so far upside down in that truck itd be ridiculous
Yep, even if you were gonna swap the enigine into a 3/4 ton truck it woudl still be a pain. But going into a 1/2 ton truck... All you can use is the body EVERYTHING else will need to be upgraded. And you 1st gen stuff wont fit...
im just gonna swap the seats i like the look of my first gen it looks like a real truck & rides like a truck the only upgrade im going 2 do under the hod is a battery upgrade till i get a pyro guage does nebody have a computerized guage setup like an edge kit or a banks pda? i like the idea of one setup i have an old laptop from the 90s i saw something called first gen 1 on somebodys laptop ones in a picture i jus cant remember where i saw this
Nothing electronic tuning wise you can do for a 1st gen.
nope 100% mechanical
i got seats outta a second gen in my pickup. it wasnt that bad but your gonna have to weld you a whole new mounting system for under the seats. diffirent bends in the floor made it a real beeotch!:argh:
i dont realy want electronic tuneing so much as i want electronic monitoring
there is no electronic anything on these. no electric tuning no electronic monitoring etc. if you want all that you need a 24 valve or newer
ok cool so wat are cheap reliable guages? all ive dont 2 my truck so far is smoke screw & rotated my afc & star wheel all i have guage wise is a sunpro boost guage & a trans temp guage i need a cheap reliable egt guage
get a 1600* autometer, good guage, had mine for years now.
---AutoMerged DoublePost--- or your guage manufacturer of choice |
wow. good luck
i was planning on takeing my seats off of the frames that mount 2 the floor & putting my second gen seats on the originals but my biggest problem is the hing on my passenger seat snapped is there ne place i can get a new hinge for this?
