Crazy Fuel Pump

A 1st genny nut said if u want mad power then buy a P7100 fuel pump? wats diff bout it and where could i find one? and wat would i have to change

muskrat 11-28-2009 12:02 PM

In 1994 the emission requirements became so strict that a fuel system's injection lag evolved into a major issue. Dodge continued to use the Cummins engine which utilized a Bosch mechanical injection pump, fuel lines, and NHAs. Bosch increased injection pressure and raised the opening pressure of the NHA so that the fuel was broken down, or atomized, into smaller droplets, thus insuring a cleaner and more complete burn. That pump was the P7100, which went into the second gen dodges. It runs on much higher preassure and therefor will deliver more fuel ---more fuel- more power. But if you get one, I will dub thee 2nd genny nut:D

1st genny nut 11-28-2009 12:06 PM

thnx man sec genny nut lol so ya think i should try to get one along with all my other things we tlked bout?

muskrat 11-28-2009 12:14 PM

Yeah, ya greedy bugger. :D Get to 450 whp before ya worry about p-pumping your truck.:pca1:

1st genny nut 11-28-2009 12:18 PM

aight man well christmas is coming and my truck is still pretty much stock:argh:so im trying to give the parents some suggestions on wat to get me lol there going crazy:s: all ive done with my truck was set the fuel pin (cone) to the deepest setting, maxed out the smoke screw and maxed the starwheel other than tht she stock so im trying to get more horsepower for christmas :rocking:

muskrat 11-28-2009 12:28 PM

Just wait till you do the gov spring. All the things youve done so far are mostly "tuning tweaks", not really any big increasers of hp. Maybe ask for a fuel pin for your stocking. It's awesome that you're as pumped as you are about your truck because you haven't hardly done a dang thing to it yet. All the little things to come will really increase hp. Just wait. :c:

1st genny nut 11-28-2009 12:31 PM

ya man mom just ordered the spring a sec ago and everyone always gives me s**t bout my truck :dang: and im tired of it. so im going to make my truck freaking crazy one part at a time :tu: ques how much horsepower do u think ill make with the 3200 spring the gds 60mm upgrade the 4" exhaust and the 14cm housing plus whatever i have done to the truck now?

The_Head 11-28-2009 01:07 PM

Not much more than stock unless you have some fueling upgrades done.

1st genny nut 11-28-2009 01:10 PM

the head wats a good upgrade tht brings lots of hp?

stillcummin 11-28-2009 01:26 PM

ok it this easy.More fuel = more power.bigger fuel lines running to lift pump.Piston lift pump conversion(low pressure)dont feed the ve more then 15psi.Or in your case maybe an airdog for christmas.Max you fuel screw AFTER youve done these things.Do a leak down test on the intake/piping.dont want to lose boost.close up your wastegate if you have one.Forget about the p pump its too expensive.you might as well buy awhole truck then youd be "one of them"and not a 1st gen.:tu:

1st genny nut 11-28-2009 01:32 PM

thnx man but it sounds like alot of complicated precedures im only 16 lol um i got the whole bigger fuel lines to the fuel pump. but ya lost me on the other stuff sorry um all im really wantin is to reach bout 220 hp thts it and i want a sreamin turbo and smoke which ive already achieved :tu:

---AutoMerged DoublePost---

aight maybe more than 220 hp :yeah:

The_Head 11-28-2009 01:48 PM

Since you're 16 and didn't make any statements on what you're truck is going to be used for, I will assume it's just for play and not for any serious work or hauling. You will like POD's then (Lucas Prince of darkness Injectors).

Get some gauges though, at least an EGT gauge, so you don't melt any pistons fooling around.

1st genny nut 11-28-2009 01:52 PM

ya its just a truck for me to get back n forth to work and to hot rod round in and ya i looked at the pods but there to much money:argh:

The_Head 11-28-2009 01:55 PM

What? POD's are a cheap injector for 1st gens. Look around for some used ones.

Wanna buy my DDP4's? ;)

I might want to upgrade to 6 x 16's

1st genny nut 11-28-2009 01:57 PM

ddp4's are they 100 hp injectors and how much is a set of pods because all ive been seeing them for is in the 500 dollar range

The_Head 11-28-2009 02:00 PM

DDP4's are 80 horse injectors. I thought POD's were in the $400 range. Maybe they went up. I don't know. I heard they smoked a lot so I never considered them. I'm not into the smoke thing.

1st genny nut 11-28-2009 02:05 PM

oh ok and ya they've went up and i just aint got the much money to blow right now and ya i love the smoke thts wat im looking for but more power too!

The_Head 11-28-2009 02:07 PM

So you want power on the cheap then. The 3200 spring is the best 20 bucks you will spend. Do an EGT gauge, then start turning it up. That will give you some satisfaction.

1st genny nut 11-28-2009 02:12 PM

haha funny u mentioned the 3200 rpm spring mom just ordered it for me :tu: now i did get to lookin at the diagrams and pics of how to install it it seems complicated ? is it

RSWORDS 11-28-2009 02:55 PM

Your stock injectors will be plenty for what you (and your dad) said you are trying to do. I would mod in this order....

-3200 Spring
-BFAH (Big Honkin Air Filter)
-EGT and boost Gauge
-Timing Bump
-Mild Pump Tuning
-4" Exhaust
-Some More Pump Tuning

Budgreen 11-28-2009 02:55 PM

I think it took me all of 3hrs or so to do mine.. most of the time spent trying to get to that tricky screw in the back since my idle screw appears bent and wouldn't come all the way out :(

RSWORDS 11-28-2009 02:59 PM

Oh and for motivation... Here is my truck

1st genny nut 11-28-2009 03:05 PM

once again thnx guys and bobby dad got me my gds 60mm upgrade i got the 3200 rpm spring today and cant wait to put it on but it seems like a complicated process to put it in? is it

---AutoMerged DoublePost---

bobby ur truck is a moster i want it man :dang: i bet u got tons of time n money into it and crazy smoke by the way

Diesel Dawgs Performance 11-28-2009 03:11 PM

RSWORDS 11-28-2009 03:11 PM

Time yes... Money... Not really... :D

The 3200 spring looks harder then it is, just take you time and be careful.

I can't say any numbers, But a butt-load more than what you are feeling now. The turbo upgrade will make alot of boost and spool up like crazy, The gov spring will extend your power-band alot further, the larger exhaust will make the whole works work better with better air flow and cooler temps. At any rate, the increase should be pretty satisfying, with the current plan. It will be an almost identical set up to what I have right now. You'll be able to roast some tires and sound like a semi. Nowhere near stock.:tu:

X2 There is no part of that project that isn't covered on this site. everything you need to know to do it is explained in depth in the sticky.

Can't say for certain, but it is alot more musical than the stock set up. It'll make ya grin your first time around the block.

1st genny nut 11-28-2009 03:55 PM

Sweet man im pumped my dads got me hooked on these trucks and sounds good man check out the video on utube h1c before and after upgrade i hope it sounds good and im going wit the 14cm ex housin like ya said thnx for ur help

stillcummin 11-28-2009 06:19 PM

You can take out the silencer ring on the intake of the turbo. That will make it whistle adds air too.Youllbe over 250 if you turn your fuel screw a couple turns.

The H1c doesn't have a silencer ring.

1st genny nut 11-28-2009 07:31 PM

thts wat i was bout to say they dont have a silencer ring only the hx35 and hy35's had them and yes it does add whistle cause my dad did it on his 2001

stillcummin 11-29-2009 08:36 AM

there are upgraded deliver valves you can buy that just install inplace of the old ones.allowing more fuel. Not sure if they ramp up pressure or not.

1st genny nut 11-29-2009 09:58 AM

umm would a new fuel pin help ne hp wise?

DieselPerformanceGuy 11-29-2009 01:00 PM

ya the denny t stage 2 adds prolly 40 hp, soame with bullly dog or the old smokey pin, but don't get the bully dog its expensive and made of soft metal. but yea they help smoke alot too. :tu:

1st genny nut 11-29-2009 01:10 PM

thnx ill look into it but right now i need to get some gauges:argh:

not for the 1st gen, The non-I/Ced flow a tiny bit more but not worth teh effort.

RSWORDS 11-29-2009 02:38 PM

In My Opinion gauges should be on every truck from the factory.
