no start

hey everyone my truck has been running great for the last couple months as ive been working on my project. i just got my cummins conversion mounts from autoworld for the ac compressor and alternator. this was the last thing i had to do to get my truck driveable.

well after i got everything on, now the truck wont start. it sputters like it wants to go but it just wont start. i know you can tighten belts too much, but it still uses the factory tensioner with the serpentine so there is no tighten the belts

anyone got any ideas?

re-prime the fuel system

wildbill 11-02-2009 07:01 PM

Might still be a little air in the fuel system, or the fuel shut off rod isn't kicking on all the way.

i never disconnected any fuel lines though so how would air randomly get in there? and i have an electric pump not the mechanical pump so it primes itself.

all i did was just put on the belts i didnt unhook or disconnect as single thing

gotta be a fuel problem somewhere. Make sure that electric pump has got power to it.

tltruckparts 11-02-2009 07:57 PM

it does and its pumping. i have fuel still coming. do you think possibly the fuel pump isnt giving enough fuel to run it with the load on it. if i disconnect the belts it starts right up

:humm: Might have to round up a fuel preasure gauge.

tltruckparts 11-02-2009 08:09 PM

i got one under the truck i just cant look at it while cranking at the same time. what do i need at a bare minimum to run the truck

muskrat 11-02-2009 08:44 PM

The P7100 should be putting out 18 -24 psi @ idle.

tltruckparts 11-02-2009 08:55 PM

i thought the injection pump only needs 3 psi to run and the pumps arent even supposed to handle over something like 15 psi
