Well, Found The Limits Of The 727 Tranny

Making any kinda power, Your stock input shaft wont live up to 13psi boosted lanches. Just FYI :D

92 D/UNIT 10-16-2009 05:55 PM

bummer,, thanks for being the guinne pig. J/K

Red_Rattler 10-16-2009 05:58 PM

Too much gripage :D

RSWORDS 10-16-2009 06:00 PM

Anyone got a 47rh laying around? :D

DazedandConfused 10-16-2009 06:36 PM

47rh
May be worth a shot seeing if they will part out.

---AutoMerged DoublePost---

First gen for ya.

This isnt a bad deal

RSWORDS 10-16-2009 09:25 PM

They want alot of money for stock used trannys... A 47RH around here goes for about $200

DazedandConfused 10-16-2009 09:32 PM

I've yet to see one sell for less then $600. Core is $500 on them to any trans shop around hear and they buy them up like crazy. Thats most any transmission.

RSWORDS 10-16-2009 10:47 PM

Got ya, Its different everywere you go. Ben said they sell for CRAZY prices by him, Garmon is righ up the street and he snags them up.

DazedandConfused 10-17-2009 08:45 AM

Yeah we have a bunch of guys around this area that build them so they dont last long.

RSWORDS 10-17-2009 09:31 AM

Thats what I figured. Luckly no one around here does anythinf but basics so parts are still pretty cheap. I found a 47RE so if I can find a good Manual VB I'll go that route.

DB Admin 10-17-2009 11:44 AM

Dont we have similar transmissions? Ive done 30+ PSI boosted launches and never hurt the transmission with stock shafts .

RSWORDS 10-17-2009 12:15 PM

No, I have a 727. I've done ALOT of boosted launches... Like ALOT... just wore it out over time I guess.

Never seen a 30psi boosted launch before. I bet that was a ride!

DB Admin 10-17-2009 12:22 PM

Its not that big of deal , i can do it in mc donalds drive threw :D

no they aren't similar, 47RE and TF727 are 2 different animals

that is like comparing a Chevy 700R4 and a 200-4R , both are overdrive tranny's but one is WAY stronger than the other.....

RSWORDS 10-17-2009 12:41 PM

are these 4wd launches chad?

You have a billit input too dont you?

RSWORDS 10-17-2009 12:42 PM

my 727 in non-OD

Its a strong tranny, real strong, just not strong enough... :D
It was a stock input...

DB Admin 10-17-2009 12:43 PM

No 2wd , stock shafts , i did it with my old turbo and Fratelli Bosio Injectors , really wasnt a big deal just power brake it till the boost gauge pegs and let off the brake

RSWORDS 10-17-2009 12:45 PM

Oh so your tires were spinning... I can get mine up to 50 just power braking and burning off tires. I broke this in 4hi coming up on teh convertor to take off like drag racing. Try that a few times... :D

ok Mr. Technical, comparing a ford C-3 (late 70's early 80 technology) transmission and a Ford 4R70W (late 90's 2000's technology), overdrive lockup converter tranny..... GEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ

Hey

Benjamin 10-18-2009 06:34 PM

47RE, not exactly what he is looking for..... if he bought the stand alone controller then it would be ideal.....

DazedandConfused 10-18-2009 06:42 PM

Or run a full manual VB in it like he had mentioned to me on another forum.

1 Attachment(s)
So I was wrong...

Attachment 48260

Benjamin 03-26-2010 02:13 PM

RSWORDS 03-26-2010 02:49 PM

I know, I know...

ArizonaRedneck 03-26-2010 03:27 PM

DazedandConfused 03-26-2010 04:11 PM

So what are you going to do with it? You still going 47RH or you just going to fix this one? Haven't been on here in a while to read up on anything.

RSWORDS 03-26-2010 05:03 PM

fix it.

I'm staying true 1st gen with this truck.

DazedandConfused 03-26-2010 05:22 PM

:rocking: can you get a billet output for it? I'm really suprised the T-Case didnt let go before the trans did.

As of right now no... My tranny guy is good buddies with a company that makes 300M outputs for 2wd 727 drag trannys. They are interested in making one for me to see if its something they would like to get into... :)

DazedandConfused 03-26-2010 05:46 PM

Very cool keep us posted. How did the rest of the trans look? Was there allot of wear on the clutches and band?

Builder said the rest looked like it had never been ran. Not even any metal shavings of parts in the pan like you would usually see with broken hard parts.

727 Transmission

I have built litterally hundreds of 727 transmissions and they are one of the most simple of automatics next to the 904 model. They are pretty strong stock but you can build them extremely stout if you know what to do. And it can be done relatively cheap as far as parts go. If I can assist you in any way just give me a shout.

RSWORDS 04-08-2010 05:24 PM

Thanks for the offer. I have a good friend that builds drag trannys and it at his shop now.

You don't know anyone who sells aftermarket hardened outputs for a 4wd HD 727 do you?

Crippled1 04-08-2010 06:09 PM

Check with JW performance transmissions in Fl. I know they have a web site but I don't have it at the moment. I will try to get that link for you. I have not had to buy from them in a while. They offer some killer high performance parts. If you are pulling with this truck make sure to use the blue clutch plates. Very expensive but well worth it.:tu:
