That's definitely worth it for $1,200, what's the worst case scenario? Get a rebuilt IP for about a grand and you're into it $2,200 for a good truck with a fresh pump and almost new engine!!

That really is nothing for miles, I just tore down a 350k mile cummins, too hot of EGT cooked the #5 piston and took out the bearings, the other five pistons looked absolutely perfect.

mine looked new too for 400,000 the STOCK bearings were .130 worn cylenders were still cross hatched rings good i was so happy

my 89 only has 135,000 on it... you guys are making me think twice about boosting it lol gonna have to start driving it around like its a "fresh" engine lol

seriously the only thing bad is the 20 y/o headgasket and a few seals

good call, forgot about the head gasket. That's a pretty reasonable fix, too, especially if the head doesn't need to be planed. I did my head gasket and got studs ($300 for studs is cheap assurance!!) at about 290-300k miles but I waited until the gasket blew :argh:

lol... hmmm headgasket i should probably look into doing one of the old girl too... i KNOW its been overheated once or twice. cousins dont knwo when to let out of the skinny pedal or what gauges are for... women should be well instructed repeatedly until they do know how to haul :argh:

I was just saying 300 for the studs, nothing for the head gasket or anything else; I just checked the invoice, it was actually 350 for the ARP's I just bought last week for the '00 I'm working on, they're brand new. my bad.
