ats turbo's
hey all,
has anyone ever used an aurora ats 2000 or 3000 turbo on their first gen. was just wonder if they were worth it or not. |
i have a Aurora 3000 on my truck. i love this turbo. it spools faster and just builds boost. i got it when i only had turned the fuel screw a half a turn and the smoke screw bottomed. it would build a good 33psi. now with 3200 spring fuel screw maxed all teh way throttle linkages tighened and the fuel cone ground a bit she hits 45psi adn never gets over 1300 degrees. towing with this turbo is easy do not have to watch the pyro at alll. i was pulling about 13,000 pounds on interstate going 60-65 i hit 1350 for a second or two then it started to cool back down. so times i wish it was more laggy so she would smoke more at low throttle lol. but with a load she builds 10-15psi at start then spools straight to 45. hang on
sweet so it is really worth the price then cuz i was thinking about it.
are they internally wastegated because thats what i heard makes them awsome. |
most turbos you buy are "internally wastegated" they're just externally controlled... how ever i'm not too familiar witht he ATS turbos; looked them over online but nothing more. i am currious how a turbo could be 100% internally controlled...
me too
:humm: |
i'm looking for a used ats turbo if anybody has one, i just can't afford a new one and i really need a new one, my stocker can't keep up at all.

Buy a S300 unit for 800-1000 and be happy without spending an arm, leg, left nut, and your 1st born child on a turbo.......

---AutoMerged DoublePost--- as long as it wasn't my right leg... it'd be kinda hard to reep the benefits of that compound set-up that i became a unic for |
every time i see an s300 there like 1400-1600 so idk where your talking about getting one that cheap.

are they used or new.
probably low mileage used units for 800-1k
ok thanks guys i'll look for that.
go to the price quote section.
I was quoted $900 shipped for Super 40 and $920 for a 62/65/12 S300 turbo |
i heard that the 12cm housing can hurt the egts. is that true?
A 12cm can get hot on the top end. Not enough flow.
ya that sucks but good spool up.
alot of guys run the 14 cm for that reason... 12 cm is great for spool up but 14 is very well balanced... plenty of flow with minimal lag... has anyone ever heard of using a 12cm as the primary and a 14 as the secondary on a compound turbo set-up? wasnt sure if egt problems were the same...
thats whats hard for me to figure out on a turbo upgrade. im lookin for somewhat quicker spoolup than my stock h1 turbo but with cooler egts.
me too
a 14cm housing on the H1C will do wonders for your truck on the bottom end... i believe since your in intercooled it came with the 20cm exh housing... my non-ic'd came with an 18 and lag is pretty crappy so i can only imagine with your 20.... if you dont have the money for a new turbo but would like to get a little extra out of the stocker get a new exh housing... the 14cm is pretty universal, low egt and great spool up... boost numbers will increase slightly but nothing drastic but lag will be greatly diminished.... a non wastegated housing usually runs 250 ish. personally i'd do this to tie me over until i have enough money to get a new turbo. you can upgrade the compressor wheel and housing along with the exh housing... it'll make the H1C a pretty nice turbo but then the shaft is the weak link of the two... if you get any kind of compressor surge i'm pretty sure your shaft will go on strike.... IMO exh housing is a decent upgrade to get you thru; you'll notice a big difference but it's just a bandaid for what you REALLY want
exactly i really want a new turbo. :choochoo:
x2 :U: but id really like my injectors to get here
ya they help alot to
if your looking for a turbo to cure current EGT problems then injectors really rent going to help matters...
