An HX40 is completely fine for a 1st Gen. They get their bad reputation from high rwhp 2nd gen guys who have no buisness running them, abusing them in sledpulls and snapping shafts. I have NEVER heard of a 1st Gen snapping a shaft on an HX40, and I know there are guys pushing over 400rwhp with them. And with the Super HX40, you get an upgraded shaft, so can't complain there.

That is if you get a genuine Holset of course.

When it takes out your engine you will feel very upset.

I've seen blown turbos eat up I/C'ed trucks to. All that little metal frags... Damn they are hard on an engine. Plus when teh engine runs away from all that oild being sucked in and it pukes a rod out teh block... That gets REAL Expensive

you can try this

take out your old H1C turbo, get a WHX40M take your bearing housing off and slap on the WHX40M bearing housing, take off your intake compressor wheel and put the WHX40M compressor wheel on your shaft, bolt everything together and you have one bad mama jama

WHX40M = MARINE TURBO

I will try and put up pictures.

Get an elbow off a newer truck and you can use a second gen down pipe! :)
Check ebay... you want a regular v-clamp elbow off an early second gen.
Elbow comes off the back of the turbo, down pipe hooks to that.
4" downpipes are much cheaper this way. :rocking:

i'm leaning torwards a 14cm... the 62/70 will give you plenty of air and drive power. i feel the 14 is a balanced housing. diminishes lag substantially but still flows enough it isn't going to choke the engine up and cause EGT's to be high. 13 would be great for spool but 100 horse sticks with the denney T... EGT's might be a problem
