If you replace the Tstat. Make sure its OEM. Aftermarkets will run hot. Cheap fix, I'd replace it first..

does the thermostatic clutch on your fan work? once up to temp you should be able to hear the fan start to pull more air... doesn't sound so much of a water pump problem as it is a lack of air moving across the radiator. i.e slower driving around town, and then sitting while you let your egt's drop means it is relying on the fan to pull the air across the radiator. i'm sure you don't want to buy one of those clutches but; it's worth looking into. you could probably run a decent elecric fan setup for the same price... come to think of it; i haven't heard of anyone running an electric fan set-up, any specific reason?

tower good call on that one...i had that problem my fan was engaged the whole time once up to temp cause my thermostat was stuck partially closed and the engine was running beyond operating temp idling or driving...had the fan unbolted from the clutch and couldnt break the clutch loose...so i said screw that....changed the thermostat instead now my fan doesnt even kick on cause it never runs hot enough....
