98 duramax turbo on a 1st gen

what is the 96 duramax turbo?
will it work easily on the ole 1st gen?

there was no duramax in 96. You mean teh 6.5?

bobcat67 07-28-2009 08:51 PM

the 6.5 turbo (not a duramax-they didn't come out til 2001) only makes like 7lbs of boost, so no i don't think you would want to try that just because the 1st gen one is better, and to get any 2001-later duramax turbo to work you'd need a stand alone vane controller for it being as it's a variable geometry turbo gonna probably be more work than it's worth to get it running correctly

typo its a 98 not a 96
i cant find anything about it anywhere

what would be a good twin to the H1C w/a 60mm upgrade?

mysterync 07-29-2009 07:44 AM

Nope, still a 6.5.
Turbo wont work!

The VVT turbo was not put on the first Gen Duramax(LB7) so no vane controller would be needed.
