Default cummins 6bt ve pump conversion

hello guys,
i am currently from India and i am hardcore fan of a p pump,,so i want to start a new project on converting my cummins 6bt 12v with a VE pump to a p pump, all the cummins 6bt 12v here are only equipped with an A pump and VE pump so,there is no p pump available here,i check all the american online store for a good p pump and non of them was able to ship to India but, only the Bosch p7100 (0 402 736 924) with a 13mm plunger which i believe was used in a cummins 6ct 8.3 from Aliexpress was able to ship to my location for $1400 to $2000 and it seems they are also compatible with the A pump front timing cover,,so i was wondering if this p pump will work or need some modifications??

I know that the front cover is different between the VE pump and any version of the inline pump. I *think* the front cover is different between the A pump and the P pump. But the best thing you can do is compare part numbers to be sure. Or take measurements. As I recall, the A pump has a smaller mounting flange/o-ring than the P-pump.

Also you mentioned a P pump from a C8.3. I left the Cummins dealership almost 20 years ago, so my memory is a bit faded. But I do remember that there was a difference in how oil pressure was supplied to the P-pump used on a B series vs. a C series. One of them had a grommet in the gear housing that fed oil pressure to the pump where it mounts to the gearcase. The other had an external oil pressure line running to the pump. Been so long that I don't remember which was which, but looking some engines over or even going through some Google Image Searches would probably tell you which is which.

Now that's not to say that a C8.3 pump couldn't be made to work on a B5.9. I'm sure it could be done, and it might not be too difficult. But there will be a little extra work in converting it.
