Lets just say that; with a Cummins.... anything is possible.

Okay the, I'll just ignore the pictures in threads I've read on other forums and adhere to your "expert" opinion. They can move even after being torqued properly, like so many other bolts on these engines. CHECK THEM!
The bottom line is this! If a key is sheared then something made it shear! =kdp or a bolt in the cover came loose and got in there or the top gear was not torqued and made the key shear. They just don't slip for no reason!! Be a smart ass if you want and call me a expert but this is simple. If your having problems with a ve slipping you need to figure out what your doing wrong.:c: |

Dude, what are you talking about? You're dead wrong. Nobody said they slip "for no reason". The key absolutely can shear, the failure being related to heat, wear and stress. It's a man-made part constructed of materials that aren't indestructible in a system that is routinely subject to high torque, heavy loads and extreme mechanical conditions. A 6BT is arguably the strongest, best wearing diesel engine ever put into a consumer passenger vehicle, but it doesn't necessarily need a catastrophic event or improper assembly to sh** the bed.
your wrong it doesn't matter if your towing 6k or 60k the stress under the timing cover does not change. Its a gear driven system. If everything is torqued so nothing comes loose and nothing to get between the gears they don't slip. END OF STORY! Look at a p pump there just a tapered fit they can slip but norm don't .. why?? because there is not a lot of pressure while turning to make them slip. Seems funny I have built a few of these and not one fail!! locktite and a torque wrench is your friend!!! you should have learned that in auto 1 in high school!! LOL:tttt::c: |
Ironic you'd say that when it's obvious your high school auto shop never taught you the concept of gear lash, the fact that it's impossible to completely eliminate it or let you toy around with a low-grade TIMU. Why would they, though? Your school never bothered to teach you the difference between "your" and "you're".

The problem is a lot of people speak and don't know what there talking about.. there was a thread on this site I was reading that the side cover gasket can not be replaced with the ip in place that was wrong also. It can be done! Other advise on the form is great. just have to weed through the bs.:c:

---AutoMerged DoublePost--- I've never had a KDP drop. Doesn't mean it's unheard of, slick.[/QUOTE] Exactly! |

I never claim to know everything and am willing to listen and learn when there is good tech to learn from.
The context of the KDP statement was obviously lost on you. Think about it a little more. Don't hurt yourself. |

Oh, you mean like that one clown saying pin shear is impossible when it is, in fact, possible?
I'm trying to teach you a little about basic engineering. As for your transmissions, don't go patting yourself on the back too quickly, Johann Bohnenberger. We've got an old man locally who can barely spell his own name and probably doesn't wipe his ass properly that builds units for several race teams.
