Max your pump out, bigger injectors, bump your timing, and upgrade your turbo. It won't smoke a lot if you don't too big on injectors but you'll get some

Smoke is a waste of fuel ask me how I know

THe first step, and it is free, is to turn up the power screw. It is on the back of the injector pump, it sticks out horizontally towards the firewall. They come from the factory with a sheet metal cover over them that you have to bust off. there is a jam nut on it. Mark the side of the screw with paint so you can keep track of where it is. Loosen the jam nut, I think you can do it with a 13 mm box end wrench. Turn the screw in 2 full turns. Tighten the jam nut, making sure that the screw dosen't turn in any more.

Take the air filter to turbo hose off before you start it, and have a flat peice of plywood ready to cover the turbo intake if the motor runs away, it can rev out of control if you turned the screw too far and the key won't stop it. Have someone start the truck and rev it up, floor the pedal a few times to make sure it dosen't run away. If it does, cover the turbo inlet to kill it and then back the scew out some.

It will make lots more power and smoke. You will probably need to turn down the low idles, that is a screw parallel to the power screw, closer to the block.

Good luck, have fun!
