What would it take?

What would it take to do a 2 inch body lift on a first gen? Has anyone made their own body lift?? I would like to make my own. Does anyone know if I need a steering extension? Would it take anything special as far as tools? I know it would take more than a ratchet set and a few washers. How many hours would it take to do this? All help and photos are appreciated!

i have helped a buddy of mine with a body lift on his blazer he just went and bought 6 hockey pucks at big 5 for like $2 a piece and put them in. then he just fabbed up the steering and then had a friend build a new shaft for his steering. i dont know if you could do that with a first gen but it would be worth looking into its dirt cheap to do it that way.

What are those made of?? Cheap kit I guess. Did you just unbolt the body, put in the pucks, and add longer bolts?

What did he do for the steering shaft as far as building material and design? Thanks man!!!!!!

What ever you do. DO NOT EVER use hockey pucks for a body lift. They will break over time and if you get into a wreck it's VERY unsafe. IF you do go that route though get a piece of pipe that will slide TIGHT over the pucks so they can't fall apart.

I ust want something that is on a teenager budget that I can do myself without completely taking apart the suspension mounts. I also want something that I can remove easily If I decide I dont like it. I saw one guy on a 59 Chevy Cummins swapin the forum that made a body lift with some square shaped chunks of alluminum.
