Truck Having A Problem
ok heres one for ya i just instaled my 370Hp injectors last weekend. the clutch is shot but still goes till the other one comes in. when i am driving in all gears you can feel the truck loose power and then get it back within a secound. you can really tell with the boost guage. it only differse by 3-4 PSI. i was wondering if it was just the clutch or something else

well i chatted a little with some other bombers and there also thinking its just the clutch problem but ask as many questions as you need so i can clear it up for you

the 370's are a big shower nozzle and pumpin some serious fuel to ya................I think yer not feelin the power until ya get some boost commin on................them 370's wont act good at all till ya get bout 10psi of boost goin on

ya but it does it at 5psi and 15psi im really hoping its the clutch

if yer boost is climbing and yer RPM's are climbin then yer clutch must be slippin but if yer clutch is slippin then it just aint gonna suddenly grab hold............you gotta back off the go peddle b4 it will grab its hard to diagnose this stuff without bein there |
luke i couldnt tell ya how much power im making but at this moment all i have it the fuel #5 fuel plate at half, the 370 injectors and my wastegate is closed off, and the star wheel is wide open, the truck wasnt doing this on saterday or even friday night when i put the injectors in it started on sunday with the trailer and bobcat on the back

i think it is because i will be triving and i put the peddle to it, smoke comes rolling out and i get some power but the rpms keep going up

Do a good power shift and see if it grabs or just slips into it.

NO just slam 3rd to 4th one time and get right back into it.The better option (or how we get an idea of a situation in the shop) is to start low in 4th and slowly let it bring its self up, If it going to slip, Normally we can recreate the problem without being rough on a customers truck!
Most likely it is a clutch problem , but could be a pump problem as well. You've got enough fuel for I'd say 350-400 |
My stock clutch on my 97 with #11 At FF would slip going up a hill while lugging it. But that was a 215Hp pump. Sounds like the clutch I say through a south bend in it.

well i definatly is the clutch since im estimated at about 550hp to about 1000 ftlbs that im putting on the stock clutch, i dont think it is the pump since it started hauling a trailer with a chit load of torque

I dont think your pushing anywhere close to 550hp

I'd say with good tuning and a turbo you'll be at 400, right now id say your probably 330-370 depending on who tuned the pump!
As for the comment about the setup making more than 370 , I would suggest putting a plate back in and you will get better dyno results, Theres a very good possiblity your getting to much fuel too quickly! |
i have a plate in it now i never took it out

Not sure where you got 550 from but its a safe bet your over what the stock clutch will handle. If your makeing 550 Im makeing 600.

well i dont know my exact power yet she's never been dynoed but when i get my HX40 turbo put in i would like to get her on the dyno

with hx 40 you'll be around 400 or 450 if you add delivery valves

191's my over all goal is to hit 1000 Ftlbs of torque ic ould care less about the horsepower is torque i want

With a stock charger it would be hard to get past 400
|

im now thiking of investing on some 191 dvs and that HX40

For sure run a plate with the laser cuts and while on the dyno try to make sure you've got a good boost charge so you'll be able to get the air moving before fueling up to hard!
94, The HX-40 is a great charger but is vulnerable to turbo bark breaking the shaft and bearing problems! 191's are a great option for a street truck , but bigger can be used. You can make plenty of power with 191's! |
yea im most likely gonna run a plate with the DV's but im gonna try them first with no plate on the track and dyno. i know its gonna be smokey as hell with the laser cuts with or without a plate. and i know its gonna be hot with the stock turbo on there but itll have to do fer awhile.

thats ny problem, and the clutch is ofically done for ended up mud bogging tonight and it didnt end up well

SMoked my clutch last weekend mud boggin as well but its healed its self onece again and is back to normal. I tried to do a 3rd gear WOT drop and it didnt happen.

ya im agle to drive it still but it smell really bad, but it still goes, im waiting on money befor i buy my new one

ok boys finally got the truck back today after a long 7days of jusr replacing the clutch "dont ask why" its a really long story, anyway the problem is still there from the beginiing of the thread cant fiqure out why
