rough running cummins

Hi i just got a 94 cummins, it hasnt been run for 5 years, we got it running but it runs good for awhile but then it acts like its not getting enough fuel and then it starts to smoke badly and wants to die. Could it be that its just gummed up from sitting so long or is there a bigger problem? thanks:humm::humm:

how gross is the pre filter in the fuel heater?

I would replace the LP just in case:w2: fluids n filters.

ya lp possibly. and fass has dodge direct replacement pumps that flow three times more fuel with a 4 year warranty for about $300. my stock pump leaked where the wires where riveted to the pump and caused a hard start and stumble issue from air getting in

rig you up a mechanical fuel gauge an make sure its getting fuel before you start guessin an spending money on shit you dont need, could be a leaking injector
ofv something simple

ok if i rig up that guage what psi should it be pushing the fuel at, and where is the fuel heater and prefilter located, so i can check those:humm:

fuel heater is under the injedction pump right beside the fuel lift pump. its easier to take it apart from under your truck
