if you have waste gate plugged off, then what do you expect?

BACONBITSFORU 06-12-2011 11:25 PM

Whats the PSI?

I'm running an H1C at about 48 pounds with my waste gate plugged and it hasn't blown up yet. Maybe you replaced yours with one that was on its way out anyway.

You're overspooling the turbo with the wastegate bypassed. Anything over 35psi is a waste and is just hot air with an HX35. Do you ever let the engine idle for a few minutes before you shut the truck off? After the engine is shut down the oil stops flowing through the turbocharger, but the turbo is still spinning. This hot oil turns into carbon build up and can destroy the bearings or turbine shaft, thats why you're supposed to let the engine idle for about 3-5 minutes to get the oil temps down and cool off the turbo. Take the bad turbo apart and look at the guts, it can tell you what's going wrong. Post pics if you want answers. I used to build & repair turbochargers...in most cases some other issue causes turbocharger failure, not the turbocharger itself.

the original turbo boosted 35 or so this one only will boost 20 25 if im lucky

TXHC, is that like what a engine cool down timer does

Unplug the waistegate... Drive sensible... Problem solved

was this a new 35 or a used one that just blew?

Instead of replacing it multiple times with the "cross my fingers" used turbo, I would bite the fiscal bullet and buy a upgraded turbo. and every time you push the motor past normal driving you take a risk of critical damage.
