Fuel plate
Okay so Iv heard about sliding my stock fuel plate forword to gain some HP. How easy is that to do? and is there any problem by doing this and or need to buy anything to make it a safe so I dont hurt my truck. Im trying to do cheap to free upgrads to my truck. is it worth it to slide up? Im also going to get rid of my Turbo silincer can someone inform me on these and help me out thanks.

The silencer ring won't do anything to hurt your truck it just makes it whistle more so it sounds a little cooler. The plate is easy to do and if your using your stock plate and just sliding it then it probably won't hurt your truck but idk. Unbolt the intake horn. Then there are 4 bolts hold the AFC housing which is where your wastegate is hooked in on your pump. One of the bolts has no head so use a chisel to punch in spot to get a flat head screw driver in. Undo those 4 bolts and you will be looking at your plate held by two bolts. Just loosen them and slide it and put it back together.

or you can do like most do and take your plate and throw it out the window but then you'd want to get gauges and you'd be getting about 13-16 mpg depending on how heavy your foot is which you probably don't want with the price of diesel

Okay great info thank u. So by just sliding the stock plate up and with the gain hp on that how bad is that on my tranny. I really dont want to get into tranny problems? its a stock truck 156k I got a cold air intake and going to be strait piping my stock 3" so no big mods. thank you guys agian for the help. oh and how bad will this effect my fuel mpg on the stock plate slide?

i threw mine out the door and im still getting good mpg i also cranked my star gear it smokes a bit but i like the hp gain and if you plan on having your foot to the floor get the gauges!!!!!!

yet to do it to mine still waiting to get a clutch dont know about you but dont want a down cummins would rather save and roll a powerhouse out the shed!!!

Ditto on Big Willy...Get the gauges! there is a possibility that you could over temp the engine and melt the pistons. Now this prob wont happen 100 or even 90% of the time, but I know of at least 2 guys who took their plates out with intentions of buying gauges later and bought gauges and new pistons later! Just a thought and my $.02

I wouldnt touch your plate if you have an auto, I slid my ex Gf's plate on her 96 auto and it was all of a week before it slipped and after about 3 months we had to put a tranny in it, she didnt drive like an idiot either just my $0.02

Idk I would just buy a after market fuel plate that's what i did and along with a cold air intake it gave my 12valve with 187k miles a HUGE wake up call and have no use for gauges yet just my $0.02
