Don't just tighten it, there's upgrade kits to fix the problem, I've also heard of tackwelding it to keep it from loosening back up. If you just tighten it you'll be doing it again. :c:

I thought you told me it was stuck in 4th?

ok so i got it to a shop and he told me the 5 gr sinchronizer is shot could this be because of the 5 gear nut if i have to rebuild this tranny i just gonna put six speed in

pukie370 03-15-2011 11:44 AM

did he pull transfer and check nut? if nut is tight then you need rebuild! I have 2 trucks with 6 speeds and they are so much better towing, but hard on the clutch leg.

how much am i looking to put the six speed in it is the an adapter for the transfer case where can i get the parts tryin to do this cheap as possible

pukie370 03-16-2011 04:06 AM

all dodge parts but very very not cheap!much cheaper to rebuild your 4500. If you want to slend money on 6 speed find junk yard that will sell all parts you need. I would say 3000 to change to 6 speed with no labor.

Mine was stuck between 3rd and 4th. All I had to do was pull the console and take the shifter tower off pop it in neutral with a screwdriver and put it back together. Completely free to try it and its easy
