New Owner needs help!
Guys,
I am having a hard time with my 96 Dodge. It has been running great then it started to miss when idling, it will miss for a couple seconds then run fine, miss for a couple seconds then run fine, ect. We took all the injectors apart and cleaned them, replaced the fuel filter, cleaned the fuel line heater. All of these things did not make 1 bit of difference. I am about to loose the rest of my hair on this one and i don't have too much left:argh: If you guys ever ran into this problem your input would be greatly appreciated. Thanks |
What kind of shape is the rubber portion of the fuel lines in? it sounds like you may have an air leak somewhere.
Edit - the fuel heater is also known for leaking air, not hard or too expensive to replace, but you can also remove it and see if the miss goes away, the engine will run fine without it. if the problem is solved, get a new one and re-install. |
Don't know, I will check them out. Wouldn't it leak fuel if they were bad?
|
Nope, their on the draw side. If their leaking you could pressurize the fuel tank and a line thats damaged or rotten will usually leak.
|
OK, I'm on my way to check it out now, will let you know. Thanks Guys

You guys were right on the money... I found some damp - wet fuel lines hiding behind the fuel tank in the frame rail. I need to remove the tank to replace the lines. I will keep you updated, thanks again for the help.:c:

unless your really ambitious, its easier to lift the bed and get at the fuel lines, take the bolts out of the driver side , loosen the pass side ,and unbolt the filler neck. get a couple buddies to help ya tilt the bed up and use some blocks of wood to hold it.

took the tank out, found the lines on top of the pump assy. rusted, also the lines in the frame rail need replaced. Do thet make a repair kit for the steel lines on top of the pump where the connectors slide onto or do I have to replace the entire pump? Money-Money-Money!!:td:

There isn't a pump in the tank. Just module, you could do a drawstraw or buy quick connects from advance and run all new rubber line.
|
id have your injector pump checked
