i have way less boost than you. help?

so as I'm reading around, guys are talking about having way more boost than I can even imagine. I only get good boost in 4th gear of the auto trans and even then, 20 pounds is all I can muster with my foot on the floor. seems dumb that 1 gear out of 4 can produce power and then it's less power than you all seem to make. what can i do?

you prolly have a boost leak

The lines going to the boost guage sound like they may have air coming through them but no way enough to throw my boost off that much. It doesn't sound like it's spooling up enough to put out more even if there was a leak. :argh:

I had a gathering here once and we tested I think 7 trucks........all had leaks, band clamp tightning fixed most of em though

u will only build as much boost as ur fuel delivery allows. i was only able to build about 22psi till i installed my 4k gsk. now it will will do 37psi with mods in sig.

Also if the truck is bone stock I would only expect to see 16-20 out of it. To get more, you need to put a boost jet on the feed line to the wastegate to bleed off air pressure to the wastegate actuator and help hold the wastegate closed longer, making more boost.

However, if you are not having EGT issues, then I wouldn't worry about it. Too many people get hung up on wanting a ton of boost. You only need as much boost as is needed to keep egts under control. Excessive boost means extra drive pressure, which is less efficient.

I'm sure someone won't like this advice, but if it is a stock turbo just plug the line to the waste gate and wire the gate valve shut. shouldn't have to worry about overboosting with a stock turbo.

not saying that is rite or wrong you shound have to worrie about overboosting your engine you do have to wacth that you dont over speed your turbo my understanding is that more than 35# with HX35 is out of it map and just blowing hot air
