Cold start issue
Hey guys I have searched for my exact problem with no luck and rather than hijacking someone elses thread thought I would start my own.
I have a 97 12V I purchased 1 month ago. It just started getting really cold at night. Around 18-30*. The last 2 days when I would try and start the truck I would wait for the heater then turn the key and it would start right away as smooth as can be. After approximatley 30 seconds the truck will start running very rough and die. After about 3 tries of starting the truck it will finally start up without any problems and start fine the rest of the day. Any suggestions. I just got the truck and the timing has been advanced to 15*, ddp fuel plate slid ff, starwheel 15 clicks forward, and afc ff. I have not plugged the truck up over night. I know this will help but something tells me this isn't the problem? |
Sounds like its getting air in the system...Might wanna start with replacing the rubber fuel lines on the lift pump and return lines plus check your overflow valve

i doubt you got a fuel leak, if you had a fuel leak it wouldnt start up right up and then die after thirty seconds. if it was a fuel leak itd be more like it has a hard time starting but clears up after a few seconds.

---AutoMerged DoublePost--- Hopefully its something simple |
thats to much should be around 900 but that higher idle should help sooooo maybe u got fuel there but loose it somewhere else so u burn that fuel then it has to catch up
|
idk Do you guys think plugging the truck up may help or maybe my lift pump maybe going out?
---AutoMerged DoublePost--- Do you guys think it could be the fuel shut off solenoid? |
fuel shut off wouldnt let it die and pluggin it up could help quite a bit and its easier on the truck
