No Power

I have a stock 96 and its lacking power. On hills it wont do over 50 MPH when floored. It starts great, idles great, and run great. It only blow a little smoke on cold starts. Any ideas where to start?

Just did the fuel filter and prefilter. Maybe I need to look inside the tank.

build your tranny and figure out what your goals hp wise are and build it that way so you don't just go get a full builet tranny and not need it and then get gauges and then go from there

What's your fuel pressure like? I had the no power on hills thing and it was my lift pump going bad.

12valveguy 10-06-2010 05:51 PM

I dont have a way to measure fuel pressure

straight pipe and cold air intake is a start if theres no mechanical problems. on top of that its a 3:55 gear aint it. mine was like that too. do you know where the afc housing is?

12valveguy 10-06-2010 09:37 PM

I dont know anything about AFC. I did notice that the pamper proof bolt is still on the cover.

no o/d?

12valveguy 10-06-2010 10:15 PM

I have OD. Should I not be using it?

daveO 10-07-2010 07:56 AM

You could try turning o/d off going up hills, but if you're giving it enough throttle, it should kick out of o/d on its own.

check intercooler boots for leaks as well. that can take away alot of power if it is not getting the right amount of air.
