Rear end... dually vs single ?
 

can anyone get me pictures of both ?

i'm thinking about doing a dually conversion and one guy told me i didn't have to swap rear ends... :P

to do it right you need to swap rear ends. but ive seen it done without changing rear ends. its all about the backspacing of the wheels. and i believe someone out there makes a hub adapter for the dually wheels

how much difference is there in cm or inches ? dually rear is wider ?

its enough of a difference, an inch or two. Swap axles. You'll be happier in the long run, plus you'll probably get a Dana 80 outta the deal.

and the dually rearend is a direct bolt in. i have done one myself

Why wouldn't you just BUY a diesel? it's gonna be a lot of work (and work that you will never get your money back outta) to swap in the axle, the new tires, spacers, and the fenders. And the truck still wont be a 1-ton like any other dually on the road just because you swap rear axles and fender flares ;)

the only difference in the 2500 and 3500 is the rearend. same frames, motors, trannies. the 2500 does have smaller calipers but that is easily changed too. i made a 2500 into a dually and if he already has a single wheel and he knows this truck then why would he trade it for a dually that he knows nothing about.

1-tons have better suspension too. And I'm not sure for these EXACT trucks, but typically they have better cooling, better trans/gearing, etc.

i have a 95 2500 and 96 3500, they are they same except for the rear ends and the beds, same 3.54 gears, same leaf springs, same motors, etc. the 3500 does has overload springs, the only draw back to making a 2500 into a 3500 is that a true 3500 will be able to legally haul more due to dif. numbers on the cabs vin tag
