Has anyone had the 4 bolts that hold down the AFC to the pump strip out I know one is a break off but I am dealing with 3-4 being stripped and it is not holding my fuel-shut off soleniod down.. Any suggestions I was able to drill out and get an insert into one hole but the other are very hard to get at and not much aluminum there, thanks..:hellox::tu::hellox:

Get a chisel and chip into the sides of them and turn them with a chisel and hammer.

WTF are you talking about? That has nothing to do with his question.

My suggestion is to remove the pump all together from the truck. I would not chance trying to do it on the truck and at the least have any shavings drop in the pump, not to mention drilling off center or breaking the small amount of metal that is there.

Once off, it should be easy enough to drill and tap for a larger bolt. You can also clean the pump out with it being off the truck to make sure there is no chance of any shavings in it.

Also as hotcummins said, you may be able to fit a nut underneath and a stud through if you still have enough threads left to keep it from falling down into the pump. Also easier to do with the pump off the truck.

wow that really blows!!!!! i guess if you did not want to take the pump off you could try using a fraction of a larger bolt in diameter and try to re thread it that way and never take it off again. i guess that would be red neck tapping:humm:

doing it that way could possible crack the pump housing though and then u would be screwed.

are they stripped really bad? can you just run the same size tap down and straighten the threads out? other wise you will have to drill and tapp one size bigger, good luck:tu:

Or just put a heli coil in it.

I had one strip out. I bought a new bolt from Ace that was a little long, then trimmed it down so it grabbed as many threads as possible without bottoming out. Having the extra length and the fresh threads made the difference:jump:
