i just replaced one of the wheel bearings on my 99. the one with abs unit was 330-500+. i went with a non abs unit from a local parts store, and only cost me 110 plus tax.

like said before, there should be no play at all. i just posted a DIY on here, might give ya some pointers

is the abs unit important though? like is my abs light going to appear? im thinking of going with the body parts online bearings or the parts geek.... is their an actual left side and right side or they are universal? i rather spend the extra money than buy junk for $90 a pop and they be shot a few months down the road

yes there is a difference. idk what it is, just know they sale left and right. if u have 4 wheel ABS then yes, it will throw the abs light, and cause the front breaks to lock up when u slam on them

not really sure if it does have 4 wheel abs, its been pooring rain for 2 days dont really feel like walking in the mud across the yard to my truck, its not my daily driver. how else can i figure this out lol

Best is just to look. Man up and get muddy... :rocking:

It MAY be possible to pull the ABS sensor ring off your stock set and add it to one of the hubs without it, but I don't KNOW that this can be done. I'd sure be researching it if it were my money to spend though. That should be the only difference between a $100 and a $300 unit.

Left and right are sold everywhere, so I'm presuming that it has to be that way. There is probably some casting difference that is a mirror image from side-to-side instead of being exactly the same on both sides.

the ABS is all internal. u cant swap it from one to the other.

as for telling, one way to know for sure, is to look. if it has 4wheel abs, it will have a wire running from the engine compartment, following the brake line around, and going in behind the rotor

dont be skeered and replace them no play is acceptable

timsgsx 03-30-2010 12:46 PM

alright so if their is no little wire running behind rotor i dont have 4 wheel abs, therefore i can buy the cheaper priced bearings.. correct

Pyro690 03-30-2010 03:21 PM

That is correct. :tu:

timsgsx 03-30-2010 05:43 PM

alright so i walked out to the truckkj it doesnt have 4 wheel abs..which will save me $$. any have an opinion of those $90 bearing/hubs from body parts online? im looking to oprder tonight just dont wanna order garbage. my local parts place wants $400 per side for anti abs why would those be $93? thanks guys
