Ive got a problem and need help!!

My truck has about 200,000 on it. I was coming up the mountain where i live and before i got to the top it started knockin.:argh: I just adjusted the valves prolly 5,000 miles ago. It still pulls and runs fine but it sounds deep... standing at the front of the truck with it running you cant really here it....but if you bend down behind the front wheel you can hear it real well. It does it ideling...it does it driving around like normal but i can lock the tc up and throw the fuel to it and it pretty much stops all the knockin. We brock the injector lines loose one at a time and narrowed it down to the #4 cyl. Has anybody had this similar trouble any help will be greatly appreciated!!!!!! Thank you tons!!!

i bet # 4 injector blew off. pull that injector and see if that is the culprit. hope it did not damage the piston!!!!

x2 on Injector ..my guess is that the tip blew off also. Good luck! keep us posted!

Did it smoke a heavy dark grey color? Not so much at idle but when given any amount of throttle?

dixieland1519 03-27-2010 02:08 PM

Ok thank yall i will deffinatly check it! I was worried that it was a rod bearing.... it does seem to haze worse if hold tha throttle at a certain rpm(1300-1700)while its just in park revving it up i havent drove it enough to kno how it does then do i need to?

Pull the injector and look it over. It could be broken, or it may just be poping off way too early. I just had an issue with my 94 where it randomly developed a really good tick, and I chased it and chased it. Finally I narrowed it down to where it had to be an injector problem. It was, #6 was actually not sealing against the head and leaking just enough compression by to create a tick, but not enough to cause performance problems. I towed an 18k lb trailer like that with no issues. So, pulled all 6 injectors, took them apart, cleaned them, pop tested them, reinstalled them with new coppers. Runs like a champ.

Ya not to steal somebody elses thread but when i pop tested my injectors they popped bout 700 psi less they shoulda and all of them had a dribble to them. They are bosch injectors i guess one of the symbols on there is a bosch symbol. but my pickup runs like crap now. and i have a grayish haze. i'm doing my timing here pretty soon also. is there any way i can rebuild the injectors?

dixieland1519 03-27-2010 05:48 PM

Well i pulled #4 injector and the tip was still on it....after i found out it was still on i was gonna go ahead and pull the rest of them but wen i went to break the other hold down nuts loose i noticed that they was alot tighter than the #4 injctor was so tomorrow i am gonna put that injector back in and try it and hope an pray for the best???.....:humm:

I'd probably still pop test it just to make sure. thats why i poptested all of mine
