i haven't had one done but if it isnt up to par what it cost to fix? have to rebuild every thing? i have a 94 with like 194 thousand i think. i was going to have it checked out soon see what it looks like

a rebuild kit is 700 bucks plus 1500 in labor

bowtech 12-24-2009 04:21 PM

how much extra would it be to bore it out a little? is there a certain size next step up from a stock?

cummins95 12-24-2009 04:57 PM

194,000 is just barely broke in haha. i got 276,000 on mine n she runs like a top. im bettin ur fine for a long time. unless its had crappy maintenance or been really beaten on. theres plenty of these trucks with a million or more on em. just goes to show, 6 is greater than 8...

bowtech 12-24-2009 07:29 PM

yeah im sure its fine i just need to advance my timing and get a set of 215 injectors

If compression shows weak, you can re-ring it, but then you stand a chance of stressing the rod bearing from the increased compression, and will ultimately lead to a thrown rod.

Rering it, roll new bearings in and reseal it. problem solved.

bowtech 12-25-2009 08:48 AM

how much it cost to re ring bearings and reseal?

12valvetater 12-25-2009 10:27 AM

400ish

What makes you think it won't be up to par?
