Sorry for cutting in, but what about Royal Purple? I put it in mine. Is that bad?
|
Its not an "approved" fluid.
|
yeah these thing are super sensitive to the fluid that is run in them, i wouldnt put anything but approved fluid in them...I know its like $20 a quart and takes 10 of em but its cheaper then paying $1000 to get the tranny rebuilt
|
10 qts? More like 4 1/2. You really like to overfill your tranny huh?
Also I sent an email to both Bluementhals and Standard transmissions as to why exactly the NV4500 takes the special fluid. Probably won't gain much insight over what was already on Quad4x4 but who knows we might. |
Ya, I could never get all 4qt in, usually 3.75. could never get all of the old sucked out(the stuff that sat lower than the drain hole or cover.
|
When we installed the tranny in my dads truck we laid the tranny on its side and put the fluid in it before we installed it in the truck.
If its in the truck you could take the stick out(<98 style) or take the shift tower (98-04 style) off and fill it through there. It will take a little longer to get the boots off and stuff but it is a heck of a lot easier to fill it up. |
x2 thats how I did mine. Take out the top pto cover bolt, pop out the shift stub and pour until it starts coming out through the hole.
Many people say to overfill by half a quart. |
Sorry about the :hijack: but i was curious cause i just changed it. Well looks like i'm doing it again.
Thanks Guy's! |
:argh: my bad on the 10 qts thing i was thinking off a slightly bigger tranny i recentyl filled:ouch:
