stupid front end
well i torn into my neglected front end today to change the original rotors, i finally got the passenger side out and realized my u joint was broke, the wheel bearing has some play and the ball joints r bad... i still havent even torn into the other side yet either. soooo im gettin 4 ball joints, 2 u joints at least 1 wheel bearing and i need the end of the axle on the driver side. this is gonna be expensive :( btw what a pain in the a$$ to get the axle out
|
yes it is they are a pain in the ass. your looking at $200ea for wheel bearings, $25ea u-joint, depending were you go for roters there about $150ea, ball joints i spent $90 on uppers and $80 on lowers, and the shaft will run ya about $250 new
|
you musta got cheap u-joints, i paid 60 bucks for mine.....these front ends suck to work on but once you do it you figure out the tricks to make it go easy. I think paid around 600 bucks per side for everything. but now it works great......make sure your carefull when you put your axle shaft back in. I musta ripped it, cause i put everything back togeather and now have a nice leak..:argh:

i found wheel bearings for 120 a piece, ball joints for 50, 25 each for ujoints, and ive already got the rotors and pads. i havent looked up the shaft but i no its gonna suck, hopefully better that 250 tho

the $120 wheel bearings must not be the same , mine had the ABS sensor built in to it and was very pricey
|
ya the ones without abs are cheeper but up here the cheapest ive been able to find were $189 each. as for the u-joints i work at a hardware store that sells autoparts and get them at a discount
|
ya i work at a dealership so i get a discount, it doesnt have abs so no wss's

Get the ems lockout hub kit and CAD delete 1400 for everything and it was the best thing ive put on so far.

you wont catch me putting one of them on my truck, way to expensive, i like my homade kit myself, cheep easy and works just as good as those do
