boost question

i put my gauges in today and my #100 plate and let me tell you WOW what a difference its like a brand new truck hahha i gotta get new tires now,:rocking: but anyway heres my question. the boost gauge reads 0 when im driving normal and it only gos up when i mash on it and it hits about 28psi then when i let off it goes back to 0 should it be reading something when im just driving, or maybe i have a leak somewhere????:humm:

You might have the wrong kind of boost gauge. Who makes it?

stkdram55 04-12-2009 12:07 AM

well if you let completely out of it right after you mash on it, its gonna go to zero...but depending on the conditions you should be running about 5-8 psi when just cruising at like 70 mph:humm:

ya u should have some boost at all times i think

the gauges are glowshift its a 45 psi boost gauge and i havent had it that fast yet i did it all last night i fubared my tranny and it took me awhile to fix it so im trying to be easy on it

I have a 100 plate and i can boost up 2 40 psi, and i am running @ about 10 psi on the highway. you will always go down to zeropsi when you are out of the skinny pedal. but as soon as you hit it it should read @least 5-10psi of boost

when i get on it a little bit to climb a hill it goes to about 5 psi but soon as it switches gears back down to 0 , i mash on it goes as high as 28 - 30 psi ,but soon as i let up a little bit back down to 0

I built one of these and it works great. if you don't have the stuff around the house its less than 15 bucks to build one. if you still have a low boost issue, your waste gate might be out of adjustment. When you adjust it make sure you dont let it go over 40psi. thats no good on stock turbos and head gaskets your just pushing hot air over 30psi and running risk of poping your head gasket:ouch:

theres no wastegate on my turbo orig owner took it off, its a hx35w and i just found out the other day its suppose to be watsegated, now i origally thought he changed the housing but he didnt , he broke the rod off and took the wastegate off. and i cant put one back on :booo:

so ideally you have a plugged turbo??? from what i hear plugging it will increase boost
