5sp to 6spd?

Is it possible to swamp a NV4500 for a NV5600 ?

toy4xchris 02-25-2009 10:20 PM

I don't see why you couldn't
IMO personally I wouldn't NV went out of business a while back and if anything goes out it would be easier to get replacement parts for the 4500 do to the fact that they were more widely built through out the years

oglejust 02-25-2009 10:33 PM

yeah ppl have done it, u gotta change the clutch and stuff, also the driveshaft is diff.... it costs a lot for the swap

94cummins12v 02-26-2009 02:14 AM

more than just drive shaft, you have to change either t-case or t-case input shafts, longer front driveline, shorter rear driveline, new clutch, flywheel and it aint cheep about 5k on the average swap

if you dont mind me asking why do you want a 6 spd anyway?

Dr. Evil 02-26-2009 12:59 PM

The 5 speed in more fun to drive anyway.

the evil one speaks the truth.

I dont have one I was just wondering if it would be done or if it was worth it.

12valvetater 02-26-2009 07:02 PM

well you can do anything is you have enough money and time. but this i would say is not worth it for a normal person.

HAYMAFIA 02-26-2009 09:26 PM

i dont know if a 6 spd is more durable than a 5 spd but if you trash a 5 spd it is cheaper to rebuild than the 6 spd
