Bad Injector?????

95 dodge ram 2500 cummins.truck has problems from time to time it starts shaking like a roller coaster ride, dont know what it is, i thought it was the death wobble everyone talks about but the front end is tight, all new parts. i checked fuel pressure from the lift pump its fine.i thought it was my manual shut off its not that either. everyone i talked to cant pin it down and im not close enough to a good diesel mechanic , so im stuck doing the work myself by reading books and internet. im thinking bad injector,im frustrated, i could use some help thanks.:ouch::argh::argh::argh:

Are we talking about a front end shake or is the motor bucking??

dodgeman129 01-10-2009 06:40 PM

its the motor bucking

sounds like an injector. What I would is if it does it when your parked is lossen one injector line at a time to see which cylinder it is. you can go get the injector checked. If it was bad I would just go ahead and by a new set but that is me though. just depends on your money.
if it is missing you will know it to. cause it fills like the truck is going to fall apart. is it oil smoking any.

when the truck shakes im just driving normal down the road and it dont blow any smoke, but it dont do it all the time its weird but if im in park and i rev it up when it gets to about 2700 rpm it like misses and blows gray smoke

i feel your pain:argh:, thought it was my injectors, ended up being a cracked barrel on my p pump on #5 , but got a new one on the way, doing the head and springs and studs while its down:madd:, damm stuff costs money.:ouch:

dodgeman129 01-10-2009 10:21 PM

yea i hear the money thing, bad thing is theres no good diesel mechanic in my area it sucks i gotta do my own work

cummins24 01-10-2009 10:31 PM

The upside to that is it'll help you get more familiar with your rig if you don't already know it inside and out :U:

Could it be a sticky plunger in the p-pump?

dodgeman129 01-11-2009 10:17 AM

it might be a sticky plunger but i dont know alot about the p-pumps other than what i read,im the second owner of the truck first onwer screwed me he must have been hard on the truck ive had it for 2 yrs and ive put over 5,000 dollars in it and about to put about another 3,000 dollars into it if i find whats wrong with the truck.
