hx40/hx35
I found this on ebay i was wondering what you all thought about it.
I was bidding on a s300 but my barracks internet stopped working during my bid so i lost. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Holset-Hx-35-hc1-with-Hx-40-cold-side-/111585920169?pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&hash=item19fb0a04a9&vxp=mtr |
The 35/40 hybrid strikes again.
Some people like them. The issue is the shaft is to small for the 40 wheel. They have a habit of surging. When that comes into play twisting and breaking a shaft can happen |
The thing about turbos is if your smart you usually get what you pay for and quality doesn't often come at a bargain price. There are far better choices than the 35/40 unless you are ultra cheap and may twin it with like a h3tb. A box t4 s360 is really cheap and you can buy a wastegated housing for not a bad price and put it together yourself. And have a quality turbo. Ya you could get a cheap kinda ok upgrade now or you could get a quality piece of equipment for a couple hundred more that will perform as intended and serve you very well. Or you could get a box t4 turbo and spend the wastegate money on a new manifold and tune the boost with the fuel plate

had one for years but did blow a bunch up
but now have compounds so its all about the hp you want to achieve |
Well I just bought a Aurora 5000 with 1000 miles on it for $200 it is perfectly fine and no shaft play. I'm saving for a twin using my hx35, So I'm pretty happy at the moment.

The hx35 will work with your aurora 5k. But a better choice would be an he351 off a 04.5-07 cr dodge.

yeah having more cfm on the primary will spool the 2nd turbo much better
