Ticking coming from fuel line at tank?
I was wondering if anyone could tell me why there is a ticking sound coming from the fuel tank on my 97? I can actually feel it in the fuel line on top of the tank but I don't know if its the return line or the feed line.
---AutoMerged DoublePost--- Has no one had this problem before?:argh: |
I'm having the same problem right now on,98 12v:argh:
People have told me its possibly the lift pump:td: |
Could be lift pump back feeding ... causing pulsing sound ... might wanna check fuel pressure and return flow valve ... problem is shurley simple
|
Id bet money on lift pump my old one ticked real bad noise travels through a truck realy well mine sounded like everything one the truck was tickin i had to use a stethoscope to find what it was
|
It's pressure waves reflecting back from the pump. Rotary injection pumps are the worst at creating that phenomenon. The CP3 will quickly destroy an improperly installed conventional analog fuel pressure gauge because of it.
|
So is it the lift pump or the injection pump?

Lift pump:c:

Just replaced my overflow valve with a higher fuel pressure valve and the ticking noise disappeared!!:tu::rocking:
