ok guys no lockup at all

My buddies 47rh won't lockup even with manual lock switch?
Took pan off changed cylenoids and they engage when u flip switch so why wouldn't it lock tried everything:scare2:?

Slim Whitey 11-18-2013 10:59 PM

no lockup at all with a manual switch. . .

well, not that I have really any experience with these things, but if everything that should make a part do something works, and you've checked that it all works, and that does not do that something when told to, I'd be looking into that parts integrity.

Basically, I'd be seeing if the tq still has the ability in itself to fully lock.

However, if I were you, I'd wait for a more reliable person than I.

trans temp sensor on the line coming out of the trans. it wont shift till its warm and if that sensor is broke it wont shift into OD or lockup ever.

Gotta<3a12valve 11-19-2013 09:57 AM

I bypassed that with a 1k resistor ... Ive tried the basics

It goes in o/d:tu:

Slim... You may be the only guy in history thats switched from ford to cummins and didn't like it ... Whats wrong with your truck???? Must be a turd to make u want a ford:pca1:

Slim Whitey 11-19-2013 12:08 PM

My Ford was a bigger basket case when I bought it than my Dodge.
But with the amount of time and effort I put in, I made it into a great truck, and that truck & I went through a fair bit in our travels.
The Dodge will go a long way to beat that.

Anyway, lets keep the discussion on your issue.

sounds like either a lock up solenoid or the clutch in torque converter is toast .....

when was the last time you had the transmission service done ?
what are your line pressures ?
have u checked to see if the OD button in dash is not faulty ?

any of these things could be going in ..... if it were me .... find a reputable trans shop and have them diag ur issue's and save u some unnecessary parts and such ... IMHO of course ..:tu:

Gotta<3a12valve 11-19-2013 10:14 PM

O/d button work s changed fluid & filter maybe its converter although it still drives right

4x4manonbroke 11-20-2013 03:29 PM

could have junk in VB .... thats what was happening with mine .... not I need to turn up line pressure just a biy more on the upper end ... shifts a bit late and loose ...

Gotta<3a12valve 11-20-2013 07:32 PM

how do you turn the line pressure up on these?

turbo2332 11-20-2013 08:07 PM

little bolt on the vb

4x4manonbroke 11-20-2013 08:11 PM

first off ... u will need a hydraulic pressure guage and line to do this .. with out ... you can pop your trans and cause real issues ..

But .. there are two allen headed screws in the ..( think its passenger side of the VB .. and if i recall correctly ... backing out is = line pressure increase
tightning in = lowering pressure .. the small one is low end big one is upper end ( or high and low) ... been quite a while since i played around with mine ...

most transmission guys will tell ya about 160 -175 is high enough .. unless you have a bigger torque converter ( like a tripple disc ) .. and internals of the trans have been up graded.. like the internal snap rings and such as the increase in pressuer can and will snap the thinner snap rings ..

If i were you ... take to a reptuable shop and have the VB serviced ad tuned up .... it is worth it , and the peice of mind is a good thing as well ... they break it , they pay ...

you break it .. you pay .. ya know ? ... :tu:

Gotta<3a12valve 11-21-2013 05:04 AM

Ya but the way i see it is we got 2 broke trans already .... Time to play how much of a turn should i try?:pca1:

Slim Whitey 11-21-2013 12:21 PM

No, you have one transmission which may be fixed by an adjustment a transmission shop can make for you, for not that large of a price.

I value the ability to drive my truck enough that it'd get into a shop for the adjustment, personally.

4x4manonbroke 11-21-2013 03:24 PM

Yeah really ... I hate being towed personally ....:td:..:nope:

Gotta<3a12valve 11-21-2013 03:51 PM

Too much pride not enough $$$ do yall know how or not lol just need a round about number lol

---AutoMerged DoublePost---

And no we have 2 trannies thats y i said my buddies

turbo2332 11-21-2013 05:05 PM

go 1 turn. cover your testis when you fire it up if your to proud to put a gauge on it.

Gotta<3a12valve 11-22-2013 06:18 PM

Lol not too proud for a guage too proud to pay someone plus im too broke ... Mostly too broke:scare2: st

4x4manonbroke 11-22-2013 07:26 PM

WE ALL understand the paying someone else ... if your broke now ... you'll be way more broke if you blow the ttrans is what he's getting at ....

But in all serious ness you should be just fine if you only go 1 turn on both screws .. nothing more though , Otherwise you might be really BROKE.. LOL.. no pun intended .. :argh:...... :tu:

Gotta<3a12valve 11-24-2013 03:53 PM

So theres two screws ??:argh:

---AutoMerged DoublePost---

okay even bigger problem I think the Sprag ? Broke? got a loud pop and now I don't have forward gears only reverse what does this sound like to you?:argh:

4x4manonbroke 11-24-2013 04:06 PM

ummmm.. did you by chance drop in gear at a relitivly high rpm ? ... like 1200 or so ... cause that will do it ... the sprag is a one way and with the torque you will break it way easier thatn a gasser ... broke mine w318.. about 1800 prm N drop ... had skipped timing .. had to drive home in 1st gear... :td::argh::argh:

Gotta<3a12valve 11-24-2013 05:01 PM

well I don't know if mine will go into first gear my shifter is out of adjustment... but actually I hit the TC lock up switch in hammered it and it made a loud pop so that's the first thing that popped into my mind
