Your thinking of the star wheel .... it determines when the fuel is added ... smooke screw is like Idle mixture screw .. more or less .. and fuel plate is how much fuel you will get .. in a nut shell ... :rock:
The star wheel is for pre-boost fuel.It has NOTHING to do with power after boost is up. The Cam plate is used to control rack travel and how far it moves at different rpm levels AFTER the AFC is out of the way. ( boost at a certain level, or higher) This is why there are different 'grinds' on the different plates. Notice the notches and ramps on each different cam plate in this picture. some popular plate profiles: This why it is called a CAM plate!! It isn't as simple as a rack stop. The un knowing think it is only about rack travel. If it was only about rack travel, why not just put huge injectors in your diesel? |
