12v fuel plate
 

i have found you dont have to run a fuel plate and i would like to save myself 220 for buying a 0 plate what do you have to do or watch when taking out the plate completly

I've read on forums that you can cause damage to the governor arm by taking the plate out, yet others run plateless with 0 issues. I made my own 0 plate from the stock plate and have been running that for a couple of years with no issues.

when you take the plate completely out your not gaining anymore power your going to loose power also there is a possibility the truck will run away

UMMM ... ur silly in the head .. Manny have seen Dyno runs plate to plate less with nearly 80 Hp difference .... and I have never seen a 6BT or a 4BT overspeed .... unless you messed with the gov spring and screwed it up ...

plateless is awesome just saying from experience 2 years no issues ur more like to have a issue with a ground plate if u dont adjust the governor arm

So manny people have been runign plateless for YEARS .... I know several who have been with out for 5+ yrs .... no damage done ...

how many of you work at a fuel shop? how many of you see the flow numbers from running plate-less vrs plate? how many of you realize that by running plate-less you give up that ability to tune the pump? the plate is there for a reason folks.

absolutely the pump will pump more in stock form without a plate, no arguments at all. there is the inherent risk of a runaway, i have never seen one. are you going to hurt your truck by running without? 99.9% no, will you look like a teenager and in many cases have a poorly tuned truck? yes. in some situations plate-less works, on the street however (I personally) think the small gain is void to the drive ability problems you will see. modify the stock plate or buy a different one. they can be had for $20 on evilbay all day long. my personal 2 preferences are a 100 and a #6.:c:

highily tune or porrly tuned you would have more of a power gain with no plate in which you call poorly tuned

no, just because truck A has 15cc more fuel available than truck B doesn't in the least bit determine how well it will run. if the tuning is all out of wack its going to run like hell and loose you power. tuning is absolutely key in these old mechanical trucks, we don't have computers to do it for us. its very easy for us to add fuel but metering it for a specific application is the hard part. and the more metering pieces you take from a pump just to get a few extra CC's of fuel the harder and less accurately you can meter the entire injection process.
