That is strange, i can tune the smoke completely out of mine with the starwheel, id pull the afc and see if they "gutted" it. it only takes a few minutes to do and will make a huge difference in the truck. if the afc still has all the parts in it then you can check the smoke screw. most people say to tune it properly use regulated air to set the afc to open fully at 30 psi
