The 4500. Needs 3rd gear Synchro's. And the 5th gear nut fell off. But everything. Other than that is good to go. I found rebuild kits for 3 or 400 bucks with the splined shaft 5th gear problem solver. Make me a reasonable offer its a snuggle partner with my Harley now.

Wish mine was 4x4 ....
Did you get the link to the 2wd 5600?? I pm'd it to you
Yeah, he wants big money for the trans ... 1500 ... I can get one reman with three year warrantee for that price ..
Where did you find a nv5600 for 1500. I can't find one hardly under 2 grand used. And the ones that are have issues. Or for a reman they want a core also
it was a 4500 for 1500 ...
the other guy wanted to sell whole truck for 2500 ( which included trans ) .. Im on west coast.. he's on the east coast .. not worth shipping and all that |
Any recent updates ??? :pca1:
Well with the g56 it is really easy to control the smoke. Runs great behind the 12 v. But just recently the clutch started slipping. But it was a used clutch. So we will see what we got when we get there. No. Complaints what so ever. About the swap I would do it again.
Awesome .. My trans has been being a royal PITA ... my TPS is sendin to much voltage ??? dont know how to adjust it ... been asking but no one seems to know how .. its solid mounted ... :humm:
4x4 there is a write up about eliminating the TPS on those trucks. I recall looking at it when I had my Auto as I was also having what I thought was TPS issues. I will see if I can find it for you.
Here is what I found Installing a Potentiometer in place of the TPS - Dodge Diesel - Diesel Truck Resource Forums
DNR Custom is also supposed to make a kit. The kits were like $40 and the write up method costs you about $10. |
OMW .. Thanks a ton Lost .... YOUR A LIFE SAVER !!!! :rocking::rocking::tu::tu::tu::c:
I am SO headding to my local electronics stores ... even FRYS .. I will find it ... |
No worries man. I tend to remember some stuff I read once but only when others need it lol
LOL.. well it was for a 1st gen .. but I will try the POT on my truck to see how it works :c:
There is another article out there that covers the second gen, I know I read it was doable on them as well. I had a 93 motor swapped in my 95 4x4 so I was all over the map when it came to reading up on mods.
Yeah .. I been reading all the posts on it ... just seems like some have better luck than others :ouch:
Welcome to the world of modifications lol. You are talking to a guy that has changed every aspect of his off road truck possible. All that is left stock on that little sucker is some body (okay very little body) and the transmission.
LMAO !!!!!!!
yeah I know that feeling .. I have had a few rock climbers that scarsly resembled a 77 chevy chyenne 20 .... and it was great in the mud as well .. :rocking: |
I finally got my front axle swapped to the ton axle Strait bolt and go. I had to use a few of the 1/2 ton parts. But. The front is done. :jump: next wkd i will prolly tackle the rear.
Sweet .. I swapped my rear diff as well .. now I have 3.55's and a gear set to rebuild the 4.10 housing as well ..
I will take some pics of my new diff that laid some rubber down ... nice and even just how I like em !!! :rocking: |
We'll guys. One thing I did learn. On a 2000to 94 axles. You have to run the 1/2 ton track bar. Believe it or not the 1 tons shank where it bolts to the frame is way smaller
Its probably a better end, not rubber but polyurathane.. :humm:
Talking about the tapered bolt that goes to the frame on drivers side.
Higher grade bolt most likley .. :humm:
We'll along this build I just ran into my first issue that I have to do a little welding. I pulled the 1/2 ton rear out today. Rolled the c&c rear up noticed the springs were closer together. No biggie I just have to move the spring perches on the rear 1/2 inch further apart Minor issue but just something that is not a strait bolt and go deal
I so love welding and fab .. Wish i could travel and help peeps with there fab work .. :tu::jump::rocking::choochoo::c:
Finally got a chance to get everything resituated. Got them welded back on. Now just got to get the time to roll the rear back under and shove some bolts in.
On the road like a champ. Just need to lift the front so it don't look dumb
Nice :tu:
Well I met a corner today something decided to knock a hole on the inside of my radiator while driving today what an end of a great day:argh:
What would anybody recommend for a locker. Arb air locker spool it. Detroit . let's here it I'm not worried if its locked solid or like a ratchet style
Done a little fab work this WK. New extended control arms with skyjacker bushings

This is how it looks now as a daily driver. This has been fun and a real budget build. |
The ugly front bumper is all temporary. Im in the process of building a road armor style bumper. I have it all fit up. Just need to get time to pull the one off that's on now so I can make the brackets and make sure it fits perfect.
what a junker !!!!! :jump::jump:
Glad to see your still working out the kinks .. I am not working any more .. ripped up shoulder so now .. I am paying others to fix up my truck .. lol... might need a few surgerys to repair what I have done to nerves in neck/ shoulder .. keep up the good work Coorsman |
Well just a note to you guys consider a 4x4 g56 swap. A front drive shaft from a g56 truck fits perfect. I used the one from my 08 since I done a nv5600 swap on it. Just remove the piece that bolts to the axle on the newer trucks. Also when you modify your cross member for the g56. Be sure you modify it on the driver side for the front shaft or if you twist your truck any or have much lift your drive shaft will rub your cross member. I screwed up this is how I know:argh:. So when I get mine back out and get it remodified. I will post pictures of how I do this.
